Awesome move, great atmosphere, good story, fantastic movie. I REALLY wish the series could go on forever. I love the 'rehabilitation' bit here. first thing i'm gonna do is kill again. Cracks me up. The Shawshank Redemption is one movie, that every person should watch at least once during their lifetime. It's a classic drama/crime movie, which starts in 1946 with Andy Dufresne, a banker being wrongly accused and convicted of his wife's and wife's loves murder. He is sentenced to life at the Shawshank Prison, He arrives at the Shawshank prison and befriends a fellow prisoner Red who finds Andy's acts rather daring as well as amusing during his time at the shawshank prison. Using just a small Hope and Time as his tools Andy finds out a way to escape from that hellhole, emerging as the most extra-ordinary prisoner of his time.
The story revolves around friendship, strength and hope. Andy gains respect among the fellow prisoners and makes the passage for his escape so cleverly which even the warden himself could not figure out till the end, The climax of the story is what makes it a huge hit amongst the masses. Only after watching such a master piece by Stephen King can one actually find out why It tops the list of IMDb top 250.

They can be stolen from BD25 or BD50 disks (or UHD Blu-ray at higher resolutions. I've seen this movie 10 times in my life. I've always liked it. But after serving some time in prison myself I see it very differently. This scene in particular, specifically when he is released and they show the gate and him leaving - I just broke down crying. It reminded me that they can walk you to the gate, open it up, and allow you to walk through it takes much more than that to leave prison. You don't just leave prison. It has to leave you. It took me over two years before I stopped having dreams that I was inside still. The idea that Brooks would get out of prison and THEN kill himself was completely crazy to me when I first saw this, but suddenly made a lot more sense. It doesn't even take that long to get that way. I cry now when I see him walk out that gate, not with sadness, but understanding. I always knew this movie was great - but never realized the attention to detail the performances had. That DGAF attitude Red has in the end is not a sign of strength, but of a broken spirit at peace with being broken - like a bizarro version of self actualization where hopelessness and misery is the premise of existence and you've become kind of okay with that in a zen sort of way.

I remember this scene being far more tragic and depressing. 2:24 at this point my mom covered my eyes and just ruined the whole scene. Loved the Movie. Went to see the Prison location in Ohio. Were suppose to show Hadley and Blutch in jail together and Hadley being welcomed the same like he used to welcome. Love the Title Love the movie. So much detail on jail. How Andy got violated, how people are treated in jail. I assume sometimes during movie that if I get to jail how it would turnout to me! And believe me I was terrified to think me as a prisoner.
An interesting turnover at the last part of the movie where Andy break out with a tiny hammer. Another turnover about when RED becomes free. I think Most of the viewers expected a tragic end but it's a happy ending and that what everyone wanted.
Hope is the best thing in the world. And it is hope which leads Andy to break out and doesn't lead RED to commit suicide. But for Brooks there was no hope for him so he did commit death himself. Heywood: Hows that horse of mine doin anyway? Tyrell: Dead. Hadley busted his head up pretty good. The doc had already gone home for the night. Poor bastard lay there till this morning. By then, hell, there werent nothing we could do. Gets me every time. What an incredible movie.

There's alot of subtlety in each hearing scene. 1947- Parole officer is snide, all on the board are white men. Red acts overzealous. Parole Denied. 1957. Officer is rude and callous,Red is nonchalant. Parole Denied. 1967. The Parole office is younger and polite, There's a woman on the board and the rest of the board looks prim and reserved, Red is humble and blunt about his past and his lifer status. Parole GRANTED.
